Quick Update

Here is a quick run-down of our activities:

Macy loves reading/eating the newspaper with her dad.

My sister Stacie came to visit for a week. We had a great time and Macy especially loved having her here. I'll post more about her trip later.

We went to dinner at Pie-Tanza (which we love so much!) and this was my view from across the table. She is so cute and little. I couldn't help myself from laughing every time I looked at her.

Wednesday we went to the National's baseball game which was a huge adventure we aren't sure we'll ever do again with a baby. The only time Macy held still the whole night was for this picture. She looks like she's very concentrated on the game.

Fun in PA

Last Saturday we drove with Tiffany and Jeff to Pennsylvania to visit college friends, Bobby, Nicole and their four daughters. It's only a two hour drive and worth every minute to spend time with such great friends.

Even though there were 5 girls running around the house, it's so much more calming than having just 2 six year-old boys running around. Caroline, Johanna, twin girls Annabelle and Ainsleigh, are such cute happy girls. We had good food, great company, and an overall wonderful time. We hope we can visit again soon! Next time there will be 6 little girls once baby Baer is born!

Here's the gang. (Caroline isn't in the picture because she asked to go to bed at 7 p.m. Nicole thought it was very strange. Maybe we wore her out.)

Closed Captioning is brought to you by...

The closed captioning mysteriously started showing up for about a week now on certain channels we watch. We couldn't figure it out because not every channel had it but it was quite annoying on the channels that did. I read the captions even though I don't need to, I can't not read them! Sometimes they were very slow which makes everything more complicated.

At the end of every show a little ad for "Caption Max" would come on. We thought they had something to do with these newly acquired captions so I checked out their website. No help there. It would have been helpful if I had a project that needed captioning.

Next, we try Verizon to see if they have any explanations on these pesky captions. I eventually found a troubleshooting page and one of the FAQ's was "How to turn off closed captioning." Apparently this is a common problem. All we had to do was press the "star" button and it turned the captions off! All those times reading those dumb captions could have been so easily remedied!

Now, how did those bothersome captions get turned on? Hmmm, let's see, could this be the reason?!

When Macy has the remote and the TV is on we find some pretty interesting channels we didn't know we had. Has anyone ever heard of The Wealth Channel? One time she was pressing down on the volume button and the volume got pretty loud. She also likes to almost order some channels for us. She'll enter in random numbers and, surprisingly (not), we don't have that channel. The screen will say, "Press OK to subscribe to this channel." As far as we know we've caught Macy before anything expensive happens.

We thought it very comical that a little girl could cause so much frustration about closed captioning!

Macy's Newest Trick

We went to the doctor's today and here are Macy's 6 months stats:
24 7/8 inches long
13 lbs 12 oz
16 5/8 head circumference

Yesterday, on her 6 month birthday, she started sitting up al by herself. It has been so much fun to watch her grow up!

Here she is in her "lazy boy." She just finished her morning reading.

New Macy Movie!

Check out Macy's latest drama here on our web gallery. It's the movie titled "Macy 6-20-2010." We love her so much and love to show her off.

Macy's Messy Eating

Macy thoroughly enjoys her rice cereal. I had to mix it with bananas for the first few meals to get her to eat it but now she loves just the cereal. I can't feed it fast enough to her! She'll start to whine and whimper in between bites. She also makes a game of trying to grab the spoon and she lunges her face towards the spoon. It's very funny to watch so we video taped a feeding session and will soon have the video posted for all to watch.

One of the first times she ate the cereal. And I thought that was messy.

This was last Sunday. She had rice cereal everywhere. In her hair, in her nose, all over her face, her feet, her hands,  her shirt (despite her bib), her and pants, over the chair, covering the table, and Jonathan's hands.

Cute May Pictures

Macy and her cousin Mark.

Hey Mark! Hey Mark!

Oh, Macy, Hi. I didn't see you there.

Mark, can I have your toy?

(Whack!) Did you forget Mark?! I want your toy!

Macy makes me want to cry!

See ya Macy, I'm rolling on out!

Aren't they so cute? It's a good thing Mark is a fourth child and used to people taking his toys. Hopefully Macy will learn to share.

Macy actually enjoying her tummy time!

Macy has definitely found her feet and plays with them as much as possible, especially during diaper changes.

Macy fell asleep like this. I originally laid her down on the blue mat with her feet at the left side of the picture. She really likes to roll around.

My New Life

A friend had this on her blog and it really touched me so I wanted to post it too.

Super Cheap Diapers

A certain CVS by me has CVS diapers ringing up at only $2.37 a package! The shelf says they are 50% off (which at $4.54 a package is a good deal), but when I brought them to the register they rang up at only $2.37. I was so excited. That's only $.04 per diaper! CVS only has size 3 and 4 on clearance so I'm stocking up for Macy. She's only in size 2 now and I think I've gotten enough diapers for the rest of size 2 and size 3 because of great deals going on for diapers. If you have time, go check a few CVS stores by you and see if you can get a good deal too!

Memorial Day Weekend

Macy and I went to California to celebrate Memorial Day Weekend.

I hadn't seen my sister Stacie in over a year so it was great to see her again. Macy really enjoyed her too. I think aunt Stacie might be her favorite aunt.

My mom wanted to take family pictures since the family was all together. We were getting ready to leave to the park to take them when Jonathan showed up at the front door! He wasn't planning on coming to CA due to work but last minute changed his mind and surprised us all. It was great timing because he was able to be in the pictures. I'll post some of those pictures later when I get them from my mom.

We celebrated the holiday by going swimming at my Uncle Mike's house. We had a great time swimming, eating, and spending time with the Francis family.

Sunday night my family went to the DeVore's home for dinner with Nathan, Kiersten, and Henry. Henry still wasn't thrilled with Macy being around, but did a little better.

Macy did wonderful the whole time in CA. She didn't mind being passed around to all the people because she can get bored easily. I really had a fun time being home and seeing all my family. I can't wait until August to do it again!

Sleeping Question

How do you get your baby to sleep when all she wants to do in the crib is roll over which causes her to get stuck on her stomach and makes her upset? We have been swaddling her, but she gets out of it so quickly now it doesn't do much good. I think this is the reason why she's been waking me up every 2 hours at night. She gets undone then can't go back to sleep. I've decided we shouldn't swaddle her anymore, but then she doesn't sleep because she just rolls over and gets mad.

What should we do? Is this another one of those times when we're going to have to let her cry herself to sleep?

(FYI: Macy does know how to roll from her stomach to back, I think she just forgets that she can.)

Another Answered Prayer

Jonathan woke up this morning at 5:01 a.m. His flight left at 6:00 a.m. He made the flight.

He set his alarm for 3:30 P.M. with out noticing. I had a dream that he didn't wake up when we was supposed to and I suddenly woke up at 5:01 and thought, "Oh, I guess Ja didn't wake me up when he left." I looked over and he was still sleeping! When I woke him up, he shot up out of bed and couldn't believe the time. He literally jumped in the shower and rushed to get dressed. He even had to drive and park his car at the airport! I prayed for him and he said he prayed the whole ride over to the airport. Our prayers were answered as there was no traffic, and Ja got the best parking spot available, and there was no line at security. He got to the airport at 5:25 and walked right onto the plane. It was very important for him to make this flight as they were trying to impress the client in Kentucky and there was only one other PwC employee going. Ja has been doing something right to be able to get his prayers answered like that!

Parenthood: Never A Dull Moment

Oh Macy...

Saturday

Since the weather was perfect on Saturday we went downtown to the FDR memorial and to walk around Tidal Basin. Our nephew Caleb tagged along and we had a blast.

Later that night we went to dinner at a nice steak house for Mother's day. Macy did great at the restaurant, and even Jonathan behaved! It was a perfect Saturday. I was so sad it had to end. Great weather, great food, and great company.
