On Friday the snow storm of all snow storms started so we didn't really go anywhere. We stayed in and played the Wii, watched movies, and TV shows. It was a lot of fun.
Saturday brought even more snow. Ja and Andrew braved the roads and went to Ben's Chili bowl in D.C.. Chelsey and I stayed closer to home and explored all the snow outside of our building. I felt like I was in Park City with all this snow!
During the night we heard a lot of cracking noises and in the morning we found this! Those poor cars.
Saturday evening chaos broke loose. Both Andrew and Chelsey got phone calls from Delta saying their flight on Sunday was cancelled. Already this was the second time their flight was cancelled. I then discovered I severely overcooked our meat for dinner. After that Ja called saying he lost his wedding ring in a huge pile of snow. All of our spirits were low at this point.
Right then I loooked at Macy and she smiled at me. It melted my heart. She is so adorable and sweet. Here is this innocent little child who doesn't have a care in the world and she reminded me that little things like burning dinner or a lost ring doesn't really matter. Suddenly all was right in the world.
Chelsey and Andrew eventually figured out their flights. They so badly wanted to get home and see their son Truman! We ended the night watching more movies and playing more Wii.
Church was cancelled again due to the snow. There really was a lot of snow. It's very pretty. The Jones' got another phone call this morning saying their flights were cancelled again! Chelsey called about them and found out that all three airports around us are closed down until February 10th! (To make matters worse it's supposed to snow again on Tuesday and Wednesday.) After many minutes spent on the phone we decided in order to get them home before next Friday we had to drive them to the Richmond airport.
We all took the two hour drive to the airport. The freeways weren't plowed and were very bumpy with snow and ice. Traffic was horrible for the first part of the drive because of the snow and slush. We got to the airport and the Jones' made their flight. This was nothing short of a miracle. I'll explain: Our house to Richmond Airport= 2 hours 9 minutes. We left at 3:20 p.m. and their flight was at 6:30 p.m. There was a lot of traffic. I really don't know how we made it in time other than our prayers were answered. Ja said sometimes when certain things are supposed to happen time almost stands still. There was so much traffic that we almost decided to turn around and not even try to get to Richmond because there was no way we were going to make it. I'm so glad we forged onward!
We were sad to see the Jones' go home, but glad they made their flight. We are so lucky to have such great friends that would come all the way from Utah to visit! We were having so much fun we forgot to take pictures! This is the only picture I have to prove they were here; it's at the elevator on our way out the door to the airport.
Oh, and Macy enjoyed watching the Super Bowl with her dad.

That looks like so much fun!! I can't believe all the snow though.... I love Macy all bundled up.
how cool... i have been wondering how yo guys did in the SNOW! we got 20 inches here.
I MISS being there so much. If I could have just had Truman with me, I wouldn't have cared if we ever left. Thank you so much for being great hosts and for making our miracle happen by driving us all the way to Richmond. I still feel bad that we had to spend so much time while we were there making flight plans to leave. I really loved just hanging out with you guys and hope you know that we feel so lucky that we were able to visit. LOVE YOU GUYS!
P.S. I find it ironic that the word verification for this comment is "dulles"...ironic because that is the airport that closed down.
