Sleeping Question

How do you get your baby to sleep when all she wants to do in the crib is roll over which causes her to get stuck on her stomach and makes her upset? We have been swaddling her, but she gets out of it so quickly now it doesn't do much good. I think this is the reason why she's been waking me up every 2 hours at night. She gets undone then can't go back to sleep. I've decided we shouldn't swaddle her anymore, but then she doesn't sleep because she just rolls over and gets mad.

What should we do? Is this another one of those times when we're going to have to let her cry herself to sleep?

(FYI: Macy does know how to roll from her stomach to back, I think she just forgets that she can.)

Another Answered Prayer

Jonathan woke up this morning at 5:01 a.m. His flight left at 6:00 a.m. He made the flight.

He set his alarm for 3:30 P.M. with out noticing. I had a dream that he didn't wake up when we was supposed to and I suddenly woke up at 5:01 and thought, "Oh, I guess Ja didn't wake me up when he left." I looked over and he was still sleeping! When I woke him up, he shot up out of bed and couldn't believe the time. He literally jumped in the shower and rushed to get dressed. He even had to drive and park his car at the airport! I prayed for him and he said he prayed the whole ride over to the airport. Our prayers were answered as there was no traffic, and Ja got the best parking spot available, and there was no line at security. He got to the airport at 5:25 and walked right onto the plane. It was very important for him to make this flight as they were trying to impress the client in Kentucky and there was only one other PwC employee going. Ja has been doing something right to be able to get his prayers answered like that!

Parenthood: Never A Dull Moment

Oh Macy...

Saturday

Since the weather was perfect on Saturday we went downtown to the FDR memorial and to walk around Tidal Basin. Our nephew Caleb tagged along and we had a blast.

Later that night we went to dinner at a nice steak house for Mother's day. Macy did great at the restaurant, and even Jonathan behaved! It was a perfect Saturday. I was so sad it had to end. Great weather, great food, and great company.

Free Book from Hotprints

I've learned that you can make one free photo book from Hotprints every month. I made my first one as an experiment and was happy with the book.

Pros:
-it's a free photo book
-you can make books for kids or make as gifts
-can change the background, text, layouts for each book

Cons:
-Isn't the best quality, but pretty good for a free book
-there are 2 pages of advertisements in the middle of the book, don't worry they can be removed

-you can only do 16 pages
-your address and a bar code are on the back cover

But hey, beggars can't be choosers! I'll probably be making one each month. This book was the story of Macy's first trip to California and all her adventures.

Try it out!

Macy in New York City!

Jonathan, Macy, my sister-in-law Tiffany, and I drove up to New York City to see my mother-in-law at the American Mother's Convention. (Really the convention was just an excuse to see New York again.) We were so glad we went! Here are some details of the trip:

Macy pooped in the car and unfortunately we were a little lost in a bad part of the city so we didn't want to stop to change her. When we arrived at the hotel I looked at her pants and noticed they were soaked up and down her legs. That couldn't be a good thing. So Macy's first stop in NY was a bath! It's a great thing babies don't care they are sitting in their own filth for a couple of hours.

Her second stop was a nap next to daddy. All that driving really wore her out.

That night Tiffany, Jonathan, and I went to see the show "In the Heights." Dorothy watched Macy while going to meetings and dinner for the convention. This is why she won Mother of the Year in California- she watched our child while at her own convention so we could go see a show.

Saturday we took a stroll through Central Park to enjoy the beautiful weather. That park is so beautiful. We are very glad someone had the idea to build a gigantic park in the middle of a very crowded city.

Macy was asleep for most of the walk (as you can see in the picture) but woke up just long enough to let us  take a cute picture.

Our cute little family.

The rest of the weekend was filled with good food, another musical (The Addams Family- Tiffany watched Macy for us this time), visiting, and church on Sunday. We drove home after church and again all that driving wore Macy out. I just love the sleeping pictures!

Thanks for the great trip Dorothy!

BYU Graduation

My brothers-in-law, Darin & Devin, and sister-in-law Deanna graduated BYU this April so Macy and I flew in to celebrate with them. Macy was a trooper again on the flight and for the time change. I'm so glad she doesn't realize her mom has been trekking her all around the country. Or maybe she does notice, and likes to travel.

We flew in on Wednesday and my friend Chelsey and her son Truman picked us up from the airport and we were able to spend a little time with them.

We were pretty sure that Truman liked Macy as this picture shows...

but when we asked him to kiss her he wouldn't do it. He would kiss me on the cheek, but not Macy. We thought he was going to do it this time...

but he got embarrassed and put his head on the couch. He did this every time we asked him to kiss Macy.

There was a surprise visit with my brother Kenny Wednesday night. I thought he was going to be in California already so I called him to make sure. I was glad I called! Macy and I watched as he made an apple pie and cookies for some friends.

Later that night we meet up with the other people in Provo for dinner at Carrabba's.

Thursday was the University commencement so we all went to that and took pictures outside in the beautiful spring weather. It was fun for me to be back at BYU and remember all the good memories that were made there.

A cousin got married that day so the DeVore clan went up to Draper so say hello to the family members there. Here is Kiersten, Macy and I.

Then there was a surprise visit with my dad. He came to pick Kenny up with all of his stuff to go home for his mission. He held Macy the whole time we were there.

Bright and early Friday morning was the convocation. Thankfully all three of the graduates decided to go to Deanna's convocation because it's the smallest college. We were all so glad not to sit through another 3 hour convocation (Ja's was that long). Unfortunately the weather of the day before was gone and it was now raining so we didn't take too many pictures and they were all inside with bad lighting. Here is one with the kids wearing the graduation caps. Macy is thrilled as you can tell by her face.

We then went to lunch at Tucano's. Macy had a great time. This was her the entire time we were there.

My nephew Brigham also had a great time at Tucano's. He is a self-proclaimed carnivore so he was in heaven. Every time he saw a server with meat he raised his hand and yelled, "Ooo, me! I want some of that!"

We had a third surprise visit by my cousin Danielle. We visited and went to her place while she watched Macy so I could take a nap. What a nice cousin!

There was more visiting with relatives and each other. It was a very fun trip and I was very grateful Macy and I could go.
